How to configure a laptop to self-destruct when stolen

You can configure your laptop to self-destruct when it is stolen or fall into the wrong hands.

  1. Install LAlarm.
  2. Enter target folder or drive names in the Destruction tab page.
  3. Enable account lockout: Run Setup > Click Options link > Lockout tab > Configure link. Or see the LAlarm manual for enabling account lock and auditing policy.

Note:

  • Data destruction will occur when an account is locked out as a result of entering incorrect passwords for a number of times.
  • If you need data destruction confirmation in order to comply with regulations or laptop security policy, enable email alert.
